CRYSTAL BALLS, PAPERWEIGHTS
CRYSTAL PAPERWEIGHTS – BACCARAT DAUM PAPERWEIGHTS :
CRYSTAL PAPERWEIGHTS – BACCARAT DAUM PAPERWEIGHTS, The classical crystal object. Both desk accessory and collector’s item, sulfur crystal paperweights first appeared around 1845 and have always been an outstanding success. Sulfurs are at the origin of cameo incrustations in the crystal. When in contact with the fusing crystal, the cameo gives off a sparkle similar to that of silver sulfide.
The early paperweights were Millefiori: small designs resembling flowers are enclosed in the crystal ball. One example is the famous Millefiori Baccarat, which are unfortunately no longer made.
We propose in-demand “overlays”. The crystal ball is covered in a double or triple layer of glass and then precision cut, making the imprisoned design visible.
