Sulfurs are at the origin of cameo incrustations in the crystal. When in contact with the fusing crystal, the cameo gives off a sparkle similar to that of silver sulfide.

CRYSTAL PAPERWEIGHTS – BACCARAT LALIQUE DAUM PAPERWEIGHTS :

Discover our crystal paperweights, from Baccarat, Daum, Lalique and Saint-Louis. The classical crystal object. Sulfurs are at the origin of cameo incrustations in the crystal. When in contact with the fusing crystal, the cameo gives off a sparkle similar to that of silver sulfide.

The early paperweights were Millefiori: small designs resembling flowers are enclosed in the crystal ball. One example is the famous Millefiori Baccarat, which are unfortunately no longer made.
