CRYSTAL PAPERWEIGHT GILLES GICQUEL, After starting as a laboratory glassmaker in Paris, Gilles worked for 15 years at the Baccarat factory where he specialized in crystal paperweights. He then meets a glassmaker who teaches him the techniques of spun glass.
In 1991, he created his own workshop in Baccarat, and uses his know-how to offer you unique paperweights, decorated with flowers or animal figurines. It transmits through each piece, the magic of the flame, unveiling a unique piece.


♦ THE FIRST BACCARAT PAPERWEIGHT :
True collector's piece, the paperweight returns to fashion, but not just any one. The "Millefiori" paperweight was an object of lust by illustrious collectors. The writer Colette, a great collector, was in raptures especially in front of its beauty and the mystery around its manufacture.

It was in 1846 that Baccarat created the first paperweights. When in 1853 the first Baccarat church was built, a glassmaker produced a paperweight and inserted it into the foundations of the building, which collapsed under the bombardments during the Second World War, In 1945.
