ADDITIONNAL INFORMATIONS

Discover Mickael Hingant Orchid Crystal Paperweight.

From a young age, Mickael Hingant spent several summers working alongside glassmakers located in southeastern France.

He learned his trade at the famous Saint-Louis crystal factory, as a glassblower on a stemmed glassworks. After several years, our craftsman progressed to the demanding position of head of cane manufacturing (milifiori and other rods).

There, he learned how to make paperweights, one of Saint-Louis’ specialties.

After that, he decided to found his own company and delights us with unique creations, perfectly combining the crafts of caneblowing and blowtorch glassmaking.

In 1837, Venetian filigree was reinvented by the glassmaker Bontemps in Choisy-le-Roi. Between 1838 and 1840, colored crystal, imitating Bohemian crystal, was born in France. In 1840, crystal with multiple layers of color appeared: doubled, tripled, and overlay.

Finally, around 1850, the blowtorch technique made it possible to create motifs to be embedded in the crystal, as seen on this paperweight.
