♦ THOMAS BASTIDE :

Designer for Baccarat since 1981. Born in Biarritz in 1954, Thomas Bastide spent his whole life in Paris where he took advantage of the cultural outpourings to enrich himself. He evolved with a mother who was painted a father who was a writer. That is why he is led by his desire to create and moved from the École Supérieure des Arts Graphiques to Industrial Design at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art (ENSAAMA). His first professional experience allows him to work with Raymond Loewy.

To the love of “matter – glass” it combines forms with it. After improving his technique as a sculptor at the famous Pilchuck School in Seattle, he installed a workshop in his Parisian home where he played with transparency and associate concrete with metals in order to create his sculptures. His personal affinities lead him to volume, the “third dimension”.

In 1981, he took the opportunity to work for Baccarat where he is still a designer, while working with other brands. The collections he creates for Baccarat: Vases with Wave/Tornado/Ginkgo, and sculptures (Neptune).
